Dr Dixa Bhavsar Savaliya took to her Instagram and wrote while sharing, “Haircare is most important during Summer as hot weather causes more sweating & oily scalp can cause more dandruff, itching & hair loss eventually. Resorting to cold drinks & sugary foods to beat the heat increases during summer which also leads to hair fall eventually.”

Cooling Hair Oils
Use Hair oil made with cooling herbs like hibiscus, amla, curry leaves, coconut, ghee bhrahmi, etc. Oil Your hair only once/twice a week to provide direct nourishment to your hair. Massage deeply at night and wash your hair the next morning or just oil your hair 2 hours before hair wash.
Consuming Amla Daily
Consume half a tsp of amla powder if you suffer from excess hair fall. Have amla as candy or sharbat for maintaining your healthy hair. Mixing Amla with Brahmi, Bhringraj and curry leaves works wonderfully for hair fall and Grey Hair.
Aloe Vera Gel
Apply Aloe Vera Gel to your hair for 30 mins before hair wash. It helps in smoothening your hair naturally.
Drink it daily as it is cooling in nature and nourishes your hair.
Apply Rice water in your hair for 20 mins and then wash your hair with room temperature water.
Apply Hair-Mask once every week made from buttermilk, amla, hibiscus, neem, aloe-vera, etc herbs.
Yoga and Pranayamas
Pranayamas like Anuloma-Viloma, Bhramari, Shitali, Shitkari help in reducing excess pitta from body which reduces prevent grey hair, also keeps your doshas balanced and reduces the urge to drink cold drinks during summers.
Incorporate Nasya in your ratricharya. Put 2 drops of cow ghee in both nostrils at bedtime.
Massage your feet/soles with cow ghee or coconut oil at bedtime.
Things to avoid during summer for better hair health
- Hair spray & other chemical-laden hair products.
- Hot water for hair wash.
- Consuming excessive junk (deep-fried, excessively spicy, sour food).
